Simply put, there is actually no age limit for someone to get braces. According to the American Association of Orthodontists, there is a high number of patients fitted with dental braces every day over the age of 18. Typically, the only requirements dental professionals have is a healthy jaw bone and permanent teeth.

Transparent aligners, lingual braces, self-ligating braces, and functional braces are now considered to be the fastest braces for straightening teeth.

About 4 weeks after bonding, you may notice minor shifts in your teeth. A noticeable shift requires more time as it takes approximately 2-3 months for it to become apparent. The speed of movement of teeth varies from patient to patient and can depend on multiple factors like severity of crowding, age of patient, diet of patient, tooth type etc

Most likely in the initial period.  The days 2 – 7  are considered the most uncomfortable period of soreness. We will advise you to get over-the-counter pain relievers, such as Tylenol or Advil (keep following the instructions on the bottle). By day 5, you should be feeling much better.

Our teeth continue to shift as we age, so there's never a time when braces won't work.  With age there is a possibility that our teeth move slower than the early age of our lives but there is no age limit to braces.

Yes! In fact, not only is it possible for your teeth to shift over time – it's inevitable. As a rule, your teeth are always moving forward towards the front and centre of your mouth, in a process known as “mesial drift”. That is why you are always advised to wear your retainers for life.

Right after getting the braces fixed you can experience temporary discomfort (which usually occurs the first day and any time your dentist tightens your braces),irritation on your tongue, lips or inner cheeks,jaw pain, difficulty eating (especially after a tightening) and sometimes difficulty in speech.

Braces as a temporomandibular disorder treatment option can help bring your teeth and temporomandibular joint into a healthy relationship and thus lessen the stress on your jaw and muscles surrounding it.

Following are the things you need to do to take care of your teeth after braces:

Use of small ortho brush for brushing of your teeth, use of interdental brushes, use of water flosser, use of mouth wash and brushing your teeth after each food intake. You will also require professional cleaning for top and bottom teeth after braces on regular basis.

Before commencing for orthodontic treatment, it is advised to  take X-rays in order to identify any problems such as cavities in the teeth that need to be corrected before braces. They also take X-rays to examine the form and position of your teeth and jaw bones. This X-ray is also mandatory for keeping a record and usually compare with the X-ray taken in the end of treatment.
