POST CORE BUIDUPS

A post and core build-up is a dental restoration procedure that is used after a root canal treatment of tooth in cases when the tooth lacks enough tooth structure to support the crown. The post and core build-up procedure is done in a single visit.

Our dental professionals try their best to restore every tooth if there is any chance for restoration. But in some rare situations when it is not possible they will communicate with you the reasons.

FAQs

Under stress, the cement holding the post and core on to the tooth can fail causing the post and core to leak, loosen or fall out.

The purpose of a post and core is to salvage an existing tooth that has lost a significant amount of its structure.

Because posts and cores do not strengthen root canal treated teeth, their use is indicated only when the remaining coronal tooth structure does not provide adequate retention for crown.

Post and core can not be given in cases when the tooth has not been endodontically treated or has been insufficiently treated, when tooth has no coronal structure at all, when patient is bruxer, when a tooth to be restored is in high stress area and when other teeth are periodontally compromised.
